Felix Cartal – born Taelor Deitcher on April 9, 1987 – is a DJ and producer from Canada. Though Felix is new to the worldwide EDM scene, having released his first EP “Skeleton” just a few years ago in 2009, he’s become a force to be reckoned with.
Since signing with Dim Mak Records in ’09, Felix has released two full-length albums. He put out “Popular Music” in 2010 and “Different Faces” in 2012. Promoting the albums and his name, he’s toured the world with MSTRKRFT, Wouldgang Gartner, and Bloody Beetroots.
Felix is known for his use of unique vocals on his tracks, collaborating with the likes of Maja Ivarsson of the Sounds, Johnny Whitney of The Blood Brothers, and Sebastien Grainger of Death from Above 1979 fame.
When he’s not on tour, Felix lives in Vancouver. In the past year, though, he’s spent most of his time on North American and European tours. He’s also working on and releasing new material and remixes. In January, he released a collaboration with Autoerotique called “The Alarm”, followed by “The Alarm Remixed”, featuring Charlie Dicker and Keys N Krates.
He’s also worked on collaborations and mixes this year with The Bloody Beetroots, K. Flay, rapper Danny Brown, and others. Somewhere in all of that, Felix finds the time to put out a weekly podcast called “Weekend Workout” and to remix other DJs and producers’ work, as well.
Felix Cartal is young and talented, but he’s also incredibly disciplined. His productivity is through the roof. He has an incredible ear for new dance music and how to evolve it to make it that much better. His experience across genres makes his dance tracks that much more crisp and full. With his connections and his skills, you’ll be seeing a lot more of Felix Cartal.
