Filipino-Dutch producer and DJ Laidback Luke was born in Manila but was raised in the Netherlands where he initially became known as a graffiti artist. Once he launched his career in music, he was soon working alongside well-known DJs such as Steve Angello, David Guetta, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell, among others. He went on to tour extensively around the globe. Besides producing original work, Laidback Luke is also known for his remixes, and he has produced them for dozens of artists, including Daft Punk, Robin Thicke, Mariah Carey, Madonna, David Guetta, Kanye West, Pitbull, Moby, Jay-Z, and many, many others.
In 2008, Laidback Luke entered DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs list at No. 46. By 2009, he was ranked No. 27, and he went on to hit No. 17 in 2010.
On a DJ unrelated side note, Laidback Luke practices the Choy Li Fut method of Kung Fu. In 2013, he went to China to compete as part of Team Kung Fu Holland at the World Championship. There the team won 23 gold and 5 silver medals.
