Yousef Zaher has been playing under the name DJ Yousef since the 1990s. His signature underground house sound never stops evolving, keeping him on the bleeding edge of electronic music trends.
He’s all for collaboration and innovation. Recently, Yousef has teamed up with a group of hugely respected house and techno artists, including Sasha, Nic Curly, Steve Lawler, and Danny Tengalia to put out the album “A Collection of Scars and Situations,”. The album is by turns ethereal, lyrical, beat-heavy, and gritty.
Not only does Yousef DJ and produce, he also runs a record label, Circus Recordings. Via Circus, he has released tracks of his own, as well as Gilles Peterson, Four Tet, Sven Vath, and more.
As an international electronic music tastemaker, Yousef also does a huge amount of talent searching and party promoting. He can be thanked for the discovery of Acid Mondays, among others in a new generation of world-class electro musicians. He works solo and in collaboration with BBC Radio, Planet E, and Cocoon, to name a few.
Yousef excels at creating an environment and atmosphere that just begs for dancing. Mixing the groove of traditional house with techno beats, he can move a crowd in moments. He is completely dedicated to innovation and evolution in all forms of electronic dance music.
Yousef’s worldwide reach keeps him relevant and on the edge of tastes and trends. His music can be found in clubs across Europe and the United States, bridging gaps between old and new house, techno, and all things electro. And he can do it with three decks, no laptop necessary. He’s been around long enough to know the analog and embrace the digital, but Yousef will never be mired in nostalgia.
