Released as a double album on August 26, 2011, “Nothing but the Beat” is the fifth music album by French DJ and music producer David Guetta. The first disc is a vocal album that includes tracks featuring well-known artists from the music world including Usher, Nicki Minaj, Lil’ Wayne, Jennifer Hudson, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Akon, Jessie J, Timbaland, Usher, Will.I.am and Chris Brown. Instrumental tracks are featured in the second disc of the album.
The first single of the album, “Where Them Girls At”, feat. Nicki Minaj and Flo-rida made a debut on the “Billboard Hot 100 chart” at number fourteen and became Guetta’s third top 20 hit in the US. The track also topped the UK Dance Chart.
The second single of the album, “Little Bad Girl”, feat. Ludacris and Taio Cruz, did not achieve much success in the US and peaked only at number 70. However on the “US Hot Dance club”, the track did fairly well.
“Without You” feat. Usher was released as the album’s third track, received worldwide success and peaked at number 10 in the US.
Titanium, the album’s fourth single featuring Sia, is a ballad drawing its origin from pop music, house music, and urban dance music. Initially released as a promotional track for the album, the song debuted at number sixty six on the “Billboard Hot 100 chart”. But after the track was released to the US radio, the song peaked at number seven position.
“Turn me on” feat Nicki Minaj is the album’s fifth single and is an up-tempo club song. The track peaked at number four on the US Billboard Top 100 and topped the US Hot Dance Club songs charts.
The album’s sixth single “She Wolf (Falling to Pieces) feat Sia, topped the US Hot dance club songs and peaked at the number eight position on the US singles charts. The track serves as the lead single from the re-release of “Nothing But the beat 2.0”.
Other tracks of the vocal album, include “Sweat” featuring Snoop Dogg, “Nothing really matters” featuring Will.i.am, “I can only imagine” featuring Chris Brown and Lil Wayne, “Crank It up” Featuring Akon, “I just wanna f****” featuring Timbaland, “Night of your life” featuring Jennifer Hudson and “Repeat” featuring Jessie J.
The instrumental tracks (in the electronic album) featured in the second disc include, the alphabet, Lunar, Sunshine, Little Bad girl, Metro music, toy story, the future, Dreams, Paris and Glasgow.
The re-released version of the album “Nothing but the Beat 2.0” released on September 7, 2012, includes six new tracks. Several tracks have been removed from the re-release, however all the singles have been retained in the new version of the album. These new tracks include, “Play hard” featuring Ne-yo and Akon, “Just One Last Time” featuring Taped Rai, “In My Head” Featuring Nervo, “Wild One Two” (featuring Nicky Romero & Sia) and “Every Chance We Get We Run” featuring Tegan and Sara.
The influence of David Guetta on today’s pop music is incredible and for all his fans out there, the album “Nothing But the beat” sure is a treat and well worth a listen.
