Return of the Savage by DJ Nature

Milo Johnson or DJ Nature is an all time favorite producer/DJ who is known to have skills behind the instruments to rock the dance floor and energizes the audience. He has always stood prominent among the DJ list for his various style and talent to blend the music and beat with the vocals. DJ Nature has been to several parties as a guest for “DO Over” and “Remix” of songs. Nature confidently states that; “I don’t fear the crowds, no matter what they want, just give me a harmonica and I’ll rock the party.”

Nature has been a former producer for Crack4DJ’s. His business clients include Nike, Adidas, Redbull, Royal Caribbean and more. His recent album “Return of The Savage” which is released by Golf Channel Recording is being a hit. Audience says that this album has the perfect blend of music, beat, vocals, jazz and a touch 0f 1960’s tune which is enough to stomp the dance floor. The songs in the album are mostly comprised of same temperament rather than the frequent rise and fall which audience claims to be dramatic.

This is a full debut album which is released by him after serving 20 years in the music industry. Media and fans cited that songs in the album are carefully and neatly arranged and they just have the perfect tune which makes it worthy of listening by and over. There are nine tracks in the album with each being elegant, precise and smooth flow which makes the listeners drift along with the music. With the release of this album, Nature has proved that he still has the touch and groove to rock the music world.

The title song opens up with a lively groove that includes the clattering of the percussions, the playing of bongos along with the yelps and gasping sound makes this song a hit start. The succeeding song “Tacky Stuff” has an easy going and smooth flow with a mild beat of percussion along the tune of the xylophone is what makes this song a hit. “1970” is a perfect choice for small dance floor and for a more romantic atmosphere. Its slow flowing music with a mix of strings and saxophone adds magic to it. Then comes “Real Talk” which is a rundown of soul singing whereas “Sexual Tension 1 & 2” creates an adrenaline feeling among the crowd with the frequent mix sound of clapping and wailing along the soft whispering vocals. These two tracks are known to be the most energetic songs of Nature which are stated as exuberant but not glossy.

Closely following is the song “The Yearn” which has a tone similar to that of a constant dial of numbers over a phone with drumming and an electronic beat that is worth noting. Finally the last song which is “Savage Reprise” is packed with the same energy as that in the opening song. With music and groove in full swing, Nature surely knows how to make a remarkable closure to the album.

“Return of the Savage” is an album with a mix-up of such music which resembles to the life and history of Milo Johnsons aka DJ Nature. Soon after the release, it was admired by fans all over.

Album Review: 20/20 Experience by Justin Timberlake

After releasing a music album in 2006, Justin Timberlake has been performing in different songs along with other singers but hasn’t released his own music album until now. The 20/20 Experience has been ranked #1 for the second week. Before releasing this music album, his renowned song is “4 minutes” which was sung along with Madonna. Although he has nothing special to say, Justin Timberlake’s fans and media is eager to know about this long gap from the music world.

He didn’t actually disappear completely from the screen as he has been performing different career moves for himself. Justin Timberlake can be seen with Mila Kunis in the movie “Friends with Benefits” and known to develop a Facebook page named “The Social Network”. The 20/20 Experience is known as a come-back for Justin focusing all the spot light from the last two weeks.

The producer of this music album is Justin Timberlake, his all time favorite assistant Timbaland along with a new partner J-Roc. It has a mix-up of all the previous song styles performed by him which were pure pop and R&B. String, brass, keyboard and drumming instruments are used widely in it. His fans stated that The 20/20 Experience has revealed a mature side of Justin Timberlake.

Few drawbacks of this particular music album are that the songs are almost of 7 minutes or more. Media stated that it would have been more successful if the songs’ length would be shorter and if Justin had focused more on his song writing. Pop songs are known to be short and concise whereas the songs in this music album have few lyrics but more music, which is great to hear but arouse a dull feeling to the listener. Timberlake stated that he wanted to reorganize the traditional pop music style hence giving the songs a changeover.

Few of his fans also stated that the lyrics do not match with the music. They say that if this music album is compared to his previous ones and with other pop music, this comes in a second place. Pop music lyricist icons as Robyn and underground Norwegian, Annie are known to blend music with lyrics in such skills that listener feels like living the music. On the other hand, Journey is also one of the famous bands performing rock and pop songs.

A song having lyrics as “If you’d be my strawberry bubblegum, then I’d be your blueberry lollipop” is considered as non-sensical by listeners. They say that relating his love life with candy products sounds awkward. Songs which rocked this music album are “Pusher Love Girl”, “Mirrors”, “Suit & tie” and “Let the Groove Get In”. These songs were rated #1 in this music album and his fans declared that these songs reflect the true side of Justin Timberlake. They said that these songs have a balanced lyric and music which are the necessary for a skilful singer and a successful song.

Final statement of media and Timberlake’s fan cited that after all the flaws; this music album still has what it takes to be a hit but needs improvement.

 

 

SFX Entertainment Acquires Beatport

With Beatport seeing exponential growth over the last few years, it was just a matter of time before the dance music giant was purchased by an even larger entertainment company. As of Thursday, we can make it official, as SFX Entertainment acquired Beatport for slightly more than $50 million, according to NPR.

Being one of the most popular online retailers of electronic music, Beatport is certainly a major addition to SFX. By its own account, the site attracts approximately 40 million users per year, many of whom have become loyal customers and huge supporters of the site.

“[With this purchase] you now have a great one stop shop for customers of dance music,” said SFX Entertainment CMO Chris Stephenson.

Even with its recent growth, we can still understand why Beatport would want to sell, as it reported a $2 million loss last year, despite generating an estimated $15-$18 million in revenue.

The sale is good news in many ways for EDM fans, who now know that their beloved Beatport is in the hands of a capable and profitable parent company. SFX has actually become more heavily involved in the dance music industry in recent years, as it also acquired popular promoter Disco Donnie Presents, a company that puts on more than 100 of the biggest concerts and festivals in EDM each year, including the Electric Daisy Carnival.

And SFX, which also owns Life in Color, plans to continue expanding in dance music, as its founder Robert F.X. Sillerman announced plans to invest a billion dollars in the electronic music industry.

“We have some of the best festival brands in the world and now we have the number one digital destination for fans of this music,” said Stephenson.

There is no word on how or if Beatport will change, but SFX has plenty of reasons to keep Beatport’s already large and faithful following happy. The site’s top 100 list, its popular blog and its massive collection of available downloads keep EDM fans at the center of the scene, but just because the site has “sold out”, the acquisition shouldn’t affect how we find and buy our favorite EDM tunes online. At least, let’s hope not.

Magnetic Festival Comes to Atlanta on April 20

The South may be more known for its hip-hop scene than any other genre of music, but its underground electronic music scene is beginning to swell and is rising to the surface with a massive outdoor festival that is coming to Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, April 20.

Famed electronic music promoters Liquified and Disco Donnie are teaming up to present the first ever Magnetic Festival at the Kennesaw State Sports and Recreation Park in Atlanta. The event will feature three stages, incredible audio and visual effects, video mapped stage designs and some of EDM’s heaviest hitters, including Flux Pavilion, Zeds Dead, Dash Berlin, Darth & Vader, Adventure Club, Cazzette and more.

The site is just 20 minutes from downtown Atlanta, but concert goers will likely feel like they are in another dimension. The 88-acre park will feature the aforementioned stages – one of which will be in a stadium with a capacity of 16,000 people – and a nine-acre lake with the beautiful and majestic Kennesaw Mountain serving as a perfect nighttime backdrop.

If the lineup and the setting weren’t enough to get electronic music fans pumped up, the names behind the event should do the trick. Together Liquified and Disco Donnie have more than 40 years of promoting experience for electronic music festivals and events. Liquified has already put on several successful shows in the South, even in Atlanta. It brought Tiesto to the Hotlanta just last year for a sold out show at Wild Bill’s.

“Dance music culture has exploded globally, and we are proud to have been at the forefront of this scene,” said festival promoter Damian Murphy, via EDMSauce.com. “Joining forces with Disco Donnie Presents is a natural partnership, which allows us to bring this amazing new festival experience to Liquified’s home base.”

The event is open to ages 16+ and general admission tickets are still available for $65. DJ Ajax Killed in Car Accident on 42nd Birthday

Australian DJ, producer and electronic music pioneer Adrian Thomas, known to the music community as DJ Ajax, was struck by a vehicle while out celebrating his 42nd birthday on Thursday February 28 and died at the scene.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning when Thomas ran into a road in Melbourne and was struck. An ambulance was not called to the scene as Thomas was killed on impact.

“It’s believed the man ran in front of the north-bound truck on College Crescent shortly before 1am. He died at the scene,” a Victoria Police spokeswoman said.

Thomas’ label Sweat it Out released an official statement on Friday expressing the loss and also Thomas’ monumental contributions to the electronic dance music scene in Australia and in the world.

“We are devastated and heartbroken to have lost Adrian and our thoughts are with his family and many, many friends who share our grief at this time,” the statement read. “He was a hugely talented individual and was highly respected by the local and international dance music community as a pioneer and innovator.”

Shortly after his death, supporters, fans, friends and colleagues took to social media sites such as Twitter to express their condolences and pay tribute.

“RIP to Ajax, my thoughts are with all the Australian homies, I can’t believe this. Such a warm and generous dude, a real leader,” tweeted US DJ A-Trak.

Thomas was best known to EDM fans as a founding member of the DJ group Bang Gang and as a producer, releasing Yolanda Be Cool vs D Cup’s hit “We No Speak Americano” in 2010. The track went on to win several major awards in Australia and has sold more than a million digital copies in the U.S. to date.

Thomas is often credited with helping revitalize the EDM scene in Australia over the past ten years. He was voted among his home nation’s top 50 DJ’s by inthemix.com every year since 2005 and landed the top spot twice (2006, 2007). However, most would consider his legacy to have been opening the doors for new electronic artists and DJs in Australia and beyond.

Dirty South’s “Speed of Life” Drops March 5

Based on his name alone, you would probably guess that Dirty South is a rapper from Alabama or Mississippi, but for fans of his energetic mixes, club banging beats and high-profile collaborations, he is known as one of the most touted up-and-coming artists in EDM.

Even with his debut full-length album “Speed of Life” set to drop exclusively on iTunes on March 5, it will be difficult for some of his faithful followers to refer to him as an up-and-comer. Since signing with his first label – Vicious Vinyl records in 2005 – Dirty South has gone on to become one of the more popular and  respected remixers in the EDM scene. A number of Dirty South’s mixes have climbed high on Beatport’s Top 100, including “Phazing” (2010) – which featured vocals by Rudy – and most recently “City of Dreams”, which landed at the top of Beatport’s chart upon its first week of release. Dirty South is also a two-time Grammy nominee. He received his first nom in the Best Remixed Record category for his mix of Kaskade’s “Sorry” in 2008, and received his second in 2011 for a remix of The Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” in the same category.

After being showered with much so notoriety and success in a fairly short amount of time, it’s no wonder that Dirty South’s new album has consequently received its fair share of hype. The 10-track album is said to an emotional charged journey with sounds inspired from his recent travels on tour. Here’s how Dirty South described the album, via Ghetto House Radio:

“I made this album on the road while touring, so everything around me inspired me to come up with the sounds that are on this record. I collaborated with some very talented people, which made it really fun and special and I am very proud of the outcome. I can’t wait for the world to hear it!”

The Australian native has released track previews on his YouTube channel for “Reset”, “Until the End” and “Your Heart.” So far, the music is a departure from some of his remixes in some ways, replacing heavy bass for melodic synths with an uplifting cinematic quality to them. Dirty South wasn’t lying when he said he packed the album full of powerful emotion, as the track “Your Heart” in particular attempts to tug at the listener’s heartstrings with soaring vocals from Joe Gil.

“Speed of Life” will be available exclusively on iTunes starting March 5, but then will be released on CD by Phazing Records on March 18. An extended version will then be released on April 2 through Beatport with four bonus tracks, one being released each week with individual artwork.

Richard Beynon & Zen Freeman feat. CeCe Peniston – All My Love

Montreal based Richard Beynon started his career in September 2006 quickly landing residencies in Montreal’s hottest night spots, taking both the Canadian and, subsequently, the International DJ scene by storm. He has shared the decks with such high caliber names as Steve Angello, Carl Cox, Fedde Le Grand, Mark Knight, Marcus Schossow, Thomas Gold, and A-Trak and played private parties for Ne-Yo and Alicia Keys. The clarinet player turned DJ/Producer comes from a family of musicians hailing from South Wales, U.K., but was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. With his massive hit “Stupidisco” reaching number 11 on the top Beatport Charts, he earned his reputation as an internationally respected DJ, releasing singles on CR2 Records, Hotfingers and Perfecto Records.
Zen Freeman made a name for himself as the go-to DJ for high profile events around the world after his move to L.A. in 2001. His nearly telepathic ability to read a crowd has lead him to spin alongside and for international superstars such as Paul Oakenfold, Black Eyed Peas, LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Avicii, Chuckie, Felix Da Housecat and many others. His most recent remixes include collaborations with Paul Oakenfold, Randy Jackson, CeCe Peniston, Jump Jump Dance Dance, Richard Beynon, Remy Le Duc & EC Twins. His latest track “Shine” has already been well received by the DJ community as well as with fellow artists Paul Oakenfold, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz and Judge Jules.
CeCe Peniston’s music career began in 1990 when she signed to A&M Records. She got her initial exposure doing featured vocals on Phoenix female rapper Overweight Pooch’s 1991 single “I Like It”. The label was so impressed with Peniston’s vocals, that they released her solo single “Finally” in 1991. Many hits such as “We Got A Love Thang”, “Keep On Walking”, “Inside That I Cried” and “Crazy” followed. In 2011 Paul Oakenfold reissued “Finally” to coincide with the 20th Anniversary of what continues to be one of the biggest dance and house records of all time. In 2012 CeCe returned with the new single “Celebrate” and now she features here on this gem by Richard Beynon and Zen Freeman.
With “All My Love”, Beynon and Freeman have created an instant floorfiller. Giving plenty of room to CeCe Peniston’s vocals to illuminate the entire song, the two producers provide a backbone of an incredibly insisting house rhythm, adding layer after layer of staccato string stabs for an enticing party climax. Electro Beach is Back!

If there is one festival which has made a place for itself in only two years, it is the Electro Beach Festival. Since its initiation in 2010, it has lived up to its promise to lineup the top DJ’s in the EDM industry to provide a fun filled season. Skirillex Releases His New EP-Leaving

Released on January 2nd, 2013, ‘Leaving’ is the sixth extended play released by the American musician and house music DJ Skrillex. The album was uploaded on Skirillex’s official YouTube channel the subsequent day. Through this EP, the DJ proves his ability to venture into new avenues of house music. Now it’s up to you to decide whether he has been able to do it successfully or not.

The extended play features three tracks. The title track of the extended play, ‘Leaving’, is a more relaxed electronica track different from the conventional high beat numbers. The track is in fact the most competent track of the extended play. The second track ‘Reason’ is an energetic electro track that successfully maintains the melodic touch. The third song of the extended play ‘Scary Dolly’ is a typical Skirillex number- the same heavy bass screechy sound that he is known for. The track was circulated on the internet before the official release. Before the official release of the EP, Skirillex announced on ‘The Nest’, which is the official OWSLA exclusive membership service, that ‘Scary Dolly’ is a track that he uses as a DJ tool and the track is the one his fans deserve to have.

From the heavy bass ‘Scary Dolly’ to the relatively funky track, ‘The Reason’, the extended play is a complete shift from what we are used to hearing from Skirillex. Even though Skirillex has managed to diversify and give his EP a new feel than his regular stuff but the album did not manage to receive high admiration from music critics.

Overall, the concept behind this extended play is quite fascinating. There are moments when Skirillex has been able to successfully do it right such as in the title track of the EP-Leaving in which he has allowed himself to venture into orchestra and create a different piece of music. Overall, the extended play has not been able to provide the entertainment it was meant to offer to Skirillex’s fans. He has not been able to give this project the time that it required. He himself admits that two of the tracks from the EP have been completed in his hotel room, only a few hours before their release.

In a nutshell, if you are an Electronic Dance Music fan and love unconventional music, the extended play-Leaving by DJ Skirillex is a must try.
