After growing up listening to EDM foregoers such as Paul van Dyk, Chicane, and Steve Helstrip, lifelong friends Aly Amr Fathalah and Fadi Wassef Naguib formed the trance duo Aly & Fila. After gaining recognition in their home country of Egypt, they decided to strike out on the international scene, signing with the German label Euphonic Records in 2002. Shortly after this, they released “Eye of Horus”, which immediately received an outstanding level of airplay from Armin Van Buuren, Tiestö , and their childhood hero Paul van Dyk.
Since then, they have performed at major festivals all over the world, including several of Armin Van Buuren’s A State of Trance episode milestone celebrations. After first appearing just outside of DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs Poll in 2007 with a rank of No. 111, the duo has climbed steadily attaining No. 19 in 2012. They also entered Trance Addict’s top 250 DJs at No. 11, and eventually reached No. 3.
