Amon Tobin, born Amon Adonai Santos de Araujo Tobin on the 7th of February in ’72, is a Brazilian producer, musician and composer of digital tunes from Rio de Janeiro.
However, when Tobin was just 2 years old, he along with his family departed Brazil to eventually reside in Holland, Morocco, Portugal, Madeira and England. Eventually, the Tobin family settled down in England. This is where Tobin spent his teen years and stayed until his early 30’s.
It was in Brighton, England that Tobin started creating digital tunes in his own bed room with samplers and other audio gear. Despite his love for music, Tobin was not yet involved in the music landscape at this point.
Nonetheless, while enrolled in a periodical photos course at a college in Brighton, he replied to a magazine advertising for the London-based Ninebar record label requesting musicians to submit manifestations of the tracks. Shortly thereafter, Ninebar signed Tobin for the label in ’96 after listening to his earlier work, and he journeyed between his house in Brighton and the recording studio in London to make his 1st formal creations.
During the following many years, Tobin launched 3 records. Bricolage, launched in ’97, was the end result of a couple of jobs Tobin had begun following his very first record previously that year. His 3rd record Permutation was launched in ’98. Independent stations broadcast Tobin’s parts throughout the summertime of ’98 to good listener response from traditional jazz enthusiasts, who were fond of the utilization of computer-created percussion and structure.
In ’02, Tobin migrated to Montreal, Quebec where he previously hung out at Ninja Tune’s North American HQ. During this time, Tobin resided in the manufacturing region of Old Montreal to prevent sound grievances from neighbors after-dark. There he created his 5th record entitled “Out From Out Where” introduced that very same year. This is his first record produced predominantly in an expert studio room. He afterwards introduced a track called “Verbal”, extracted from Out From Out Where.
In ’07 Tobin introduced “Foley Room”, a record centered wholly in the exploitation of field recordings. His newest record, 2011’s ISAM, contained “female” singing created from his own refined voice. His tunes have been found in various significant movies like “The Italian Job” along with “21”.
