Described on his own Facebook page as an “underground progressive house and techno DJ for dark spaces” DJ Andyredrum drags house and techno out of its ‘Summer-Party’ vibe and takes it to a new shadowy realm. Spinning a mixture of popular tribal beats and dark, fluid mixes – Andy has created a unique motif for his act that is reminiscent of the sounds of one of his major influences, Chemical Brothers.
On the topic of influence, it isn’t surprising to see Andy lists his band interests as Tool, Nine Inch Nails or Tom Waits. Three musical acts who are revered for their professionalism on stage, their ability to create inventive and especially dark, chilling compositions. It’s always interesting to see what influences DJ’s outside of the circle of EDM, as their passion is bound to reflect in their work somewhere. In this case, Andy has taken a particular delight in replicating the dark, often sinister, rough sounds of the three bands above.
Andy Torres was born in Brooklyn, New York – but recently relocated to Miami. In the past he’s played monthly and seasonal parties around the Masquerade, and other venues such as The Quad, Wetbar and Jungle Club. If you follow his website, you can find more information about where he’s playing, also, his blog is a great place to pick up information on what he’s doing and it’s perhaps a great place to pick up tips on his future collaborations.
