Netherlander DJ and producer Armin van Buuren has become renowned for his uplifting trance sound that has made him the most renowned talent in the EDM scene. After finding quick success in 1995 when he was only 19, van Buuren skyrocketed in popularity, rapidly scoring a No. 18 spot on the UK Charts and ranking No. 27 on DJ Magazine’s Top 100. He went on consistently rank at the top of the magazine’s list, and holds the record for most years as No. 1, having held the title for five non-consecutive years.
Van Buuren was pushed to superstar status largely thanks to his weekly radio show A State of Trance, which is listened to by an audience of 20 million people representing 26 countries. In recent years, he has received numerous accolades for his contributions to Dutch culture, including the Golden Harp for the quality of his music, and an appointment as Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau for his services to the Dutch music economy.
In 2008, his album Imagine was the first dance music album ever to enter the Dutch album chart at No. 1. In 2010, he was named Most Popular International DJ by the Golden Gnomes. One of his highest distinctions came in 2013, when van Buuren was selected to headline a celebration held to honor the crowning of the Netherlands’ new king.
