Dutch electronic dance music duo Bingo Players first broke onto the international scene in 2011 with the release of their single “Rattle”, which hit the top 40 in several countries. Two years later, they redid the track and released it as “Get Up (Rattle)”. This time the single went No. 1 in the UK, and hit the top 10 in many other countries. The single has since gone four times platinum in Australia, gold in Canada, and silver in the UK.
In addition to producing their own music, Bingo Players has created remixes for dozens of artists, including Dada Life, Flo Rida, the Prodigy, Sander Van Doorn, Sir Mix-a-Lot, Pitbull, the Black Eyed Peas, and many more. The duo also owns and operates Hysteria Records, through which they release their own singles and provide a platform for up-and-coming talent.
On July 19, 2013, Paul announced on the duo’s Facebook fan page, that he had been diagnosed with cancer and that Maarten would be representing the duo on the road for the foreseeable future. Paul was working in the studio and took the lead in running the Hysteria record label, meanwhile seeking medical treatment. The EDM community was shocked and saddened on December 18, 2013, when Paul Baumer lost his battle with cancer and passed away. Maarten cancelled the remaining shows for the year, but announced that he would continue the Bingo Players project. Maarten notes that Paul would have wanted it that way and that Bingo Players will forever be plural.
