Launched in 1999, the German trance duo Cosmic Gate—which is comprised of members Claus Terhoeven (a.k.a. Nic Chagall) and Stefan Bossems (a.k.a. DJ Bossi)—gained relatively quick acknowledgement when its single “Fire Wire” came out in 2011 and made it to No. 9 on the UK charts. Since starting their career, Cosmic Gate has gone on to play more than 1,000 shows averaging roughly 130 performances per year, often at some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Privilege Ibiza and Ministry of Sound. Over the course of their career, Cosmic Gate has produced remixes for dozens of high profile artists, such as Paul van Dyk, Tiestö , Ferry Corsten, Blank & Jones, Svenson & Gielen, and many more.
In 2003, Cosmic Gate was voted onto DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs list for the first time, coming in at No. 86. By 2009, they were up to No. 43. As of 2012, the duo ranked at No. 39.
