Born and raised near New Castle, England, trace producer and DJ Darren Porter showed an interest in music at an early age when he began teaching himself the basics of music and piano. Without any working knowledge of reading music and without taking a single lesson, he quickly became proficient at song creation, and it wasn’t long before he was creating the scores for independent films. Eventually he discovered EDM, and he dedicated himself to studying music technology in order to learn everything necessary for electronic music production.
In the early 2000s he officially entered his career as a producer upon winning the Dave Pearce Bedroom Producer Competition with his track “Termination”, which garnered him a deal with Oceanstate Recordings. Since then he has remixed tracks for some of the biggest names in the scene, and has garnered numerous recognitions. 2012 brought a landmark year for Porter, when he remixed “the World” by Sean Tyas featuring Lo-fi Sugar, which became one of the biggest tracks of the year.
