British DJ, producer, and musician Fake Blood — also known as Touché or his given name Theo Keating — first made his name as one half of the duo The Wiseguys. Keating and Paul Eve made up a two-man power house of a hip hop/big beat band. The two garnered a lot of fame and respect when their singles “Start the Commotion” and “Ooh, La La” got picked up for Mitsubishi and Budweiser commercials, respectively.
As Fake Blood, Keating shows the world his chops as a house and electro DJ. He’s released several incredibly successful and popular original tracks and remixes, including his ‘09 release, “I think I Like It”, which came out the same year that Keating was featured on BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix.
What inspired Keating to strike out on his own as Fake Blood? A year after the release of the ‘08 debut “Mars” on Cheap Thrills, Keating stepped out from behind the curtain to reveal himself as the wizard of the mysterious mix. He’s kept releasing EPs since, through 2012, on Cheap Thrills and on the PIAs sub-label Different. Those efforts led to his first full-length album, “Cells”, which came out this year.
Having collaborated for so long and worked on so many high-power projects — like his current project, The Black Ghosts with former Simians member Simon William Lord — Keating has been all over the map with electronic music. His taste is eclectic. His style is rich. You never know what will happen next with Fake Blood on the decks. All you know is the man knows house. He knows electro, and he knows how to bring an audience to its knees on the dance floor.
