DJ Guy J, known to his family as Guy Judah, is from Israel, a world capital of electronic music. The culture there is ripe for young DJs and producers, but its leading export has always been psy trance. That’s what sets Guy and compatriots apart. While others were spinning and producing what’s already done, Guy and his contemporaries were heading up a revolution in techno and house music.
Guy started his production career at just fourteen years old. From the very beginning, he was hooked, getting all of the equipment and knowledge he could. He recalls, “My friends called my room ‘the cave.’” He put out his first release at twenty-one, and his first real breakthrough came in 2007, with the release of his single “Save Me”.
John Digweed jumped on “Save Me” and signed Guy to Bedrock Records. Suddenly, Guy found himself putting out his own music on a label that he’d grown up loving and listening to.
From the beginning, Guy’s music has been singular and outstanding. He’s always had a sense of emotion and ethereal melodies to his work, reminding some of Depeche Mode and other artists before him. His debut album “Esperanza” came out in 2008, with a classy, fluid feel to it, spanning techno, house, trance, and progressive.
In 2012, still working closely with Digweed and everyone at Bedrock, Guy launched his own imprint: Lost & Found. This sub-label of Bedrock Records will be dedicated to Guy’s music and music by other producers of his choosing.
Not only is Guy continuing to sore higher with his own beautiful tunes, but Guy’s also getting the chance of a lifetime to promote other artists who he sees potential in. If his talent, skills, and ear for a beautiful, melodic beat are any indicator, Lost & Found is going to put out some seriously interesting work by up and coming artists to watch.
