Christopher Mercer, professionally known as “Rusko” was born in Leeds, England back in 1985 into a musically inclined household. From day-one Rusko was flanked by music. Whether it’s his household’s saxophone, banjos, guitars and pianos or the hefty reggae and dub sound systems later on in Leeds, music and songs have ever been an essential component of Rusko’s lifestyle.
Soon after completed studies at Leeds College of Music with a university degree in Music Creation, Rusko uncovered the industry of dubstep from the Leeds club night entitled Subdub and a come out emergence in the Digital Mystikz. Having invested the previous decade building future dub together with Leeds’ own Iration Steppas, Rusko joined with the sound and relocated down to London to help improve his musical probabilities together with Sub Soldiers label partner Caspa.
Rusko launched his production premier in the year 2006 on Dub Police using the tune SNES Dub. Once 2007 arrived, he launched Babylon, Vol. 1 along with Sub Soldiers plus Fabriclive 37 and Caspa.
Shifting from the deeper side of dubstep, Rusko introduced a high energy sound to the landscape that attracted countless music lovers from outside of the traditional dubstep circles. Rusko’s incredibly effective track “Cockney Thug” has made an appearance on several different DJ sets and combinations such as Santigold, M.I.A., Switch and Pete Tong. His popular music is remixed by musicians Buraka Som Sistema in addition to Scratch Perverts, Drop the Lime, Sub Focus and fellow artist Caspa.
Additionally, Rusko executed his own remixes and productions for musicians such as A-Trak featuring Kid Sister and Adele.
Keeping with his busy schedule, “Songs” premiered back on March 26th of 2012 plus “Somebody To Love” was launched on January 23rd of 2012.
Furthermore, on October 26th of 2012, Fact Magazine published a discussion with Rusko where he said he intended to launch his songs free of charge rather than signing a deal with Mad Decent again, right after his argument with the music label regarding the unveiling of his 2nd record.
