Melodyst is a duo from Milano, Italy which is comprised of two members who were born in the early 1990’s who go by the names Matthew and Kidz.
However, prior to forming Melodyst, Kidz started to “tweak” behind two turntables and a mixer around the age of thirteen and really started following the techno scene in Milano. A short time later, he started to do the PR for a club in Milan called “the DeSade”. A couple of years later he started playing DJ sets at the Desade for an hour on each Saturday night.
As for Matthew, he started out a relatively unknown artist using the moniker “Matt Em”. Nevertheless, he immediately realized that if he wanted to break through in the world of music, he had to start producing his own records, and creating his own style. Thus, he bought a PC and began to experiment with music production. This is something that he has never stopped.
Nevertheless, it was about four years prior to the formation of Melodyst that the duo crossed paths due to the knowledge of their own love for music by their friends on common. Shortly thereafter, the duo started talking about music to one another in general. Once they realized that they had a lot in common from a musical perspective, they decided to channel their combined talents into the joint creation that they would dub “Melodyst”. They came up with this name because they wanted a name which the pair invented, and liked how “Melodyst” sounded since it includes the word “melody”.
The duo quickly started to produce hardstyle after hearing the track “The Power Of The Mind” by Headhunterz. One day, after creating a number of hardstyle tracks that were not to their liking, the pair decided to alter their project to create a 175 bpm hardstyle, with an added distortion. They were quickly amazed by the energy “that their new creation gave off and had found their niche.
Since then, the group has released three EPs on the renowned Dutch label, Rotterdam Records.
