Previously named Mass Productions, Zeds Dead is a Canadian electronic music pair from Toronto, Ontario, Canada comprised of Dylan Mamid, or DC, and Zach Rapp-Rovan, or Hooks. DC and Hooks have already been creating music jointly ever since 2004. Their name, “Zeds Dead” is actually comes from a reference which was made in the 1994 Quentin Tarantino movie “Pulp Fiction”.
Nonetheless, Zeds Dead attained its international recognition by providing totally free downloads of their numerous productions. Their very first self-released cost-free song was “Journey of a Lifetime”, that was provided to lovers as a free download in June 2009. Ever since Journey of a Lifetime, they have self-released almost twenty productions free of charge. They are part of a recent era of musicians who always release zero cost music for everyone as well as their supporters.
On the heels of their newfound popularity, Zeds Dead performed their very first live set at “The Social” in Toronto on the 11th of June, 2009. In September of 2010, they launched a weekly bash at the Toronto place “751”, referred to as Bassmentality, next to The Killabits. The purpose behind the creation of Bassmentality was to provide an autonomous environment to play the music that they desired with no limits being set in place by rigid club owners.
Bassmentality, which relocated to Wrongbar in November 2010, grew to become famous for hosting the most notable international talents and weekly shows from The Killabits and Zeds Dead.
Since the creation of Bassmentality, Zeds Dead have firmly established themselves as a major force in EDM arenas and have acquired popularity and approval from EDM fanatics from around the world. As a direct result of their well-earned fame, Zens Dead has released multiple albums while touring the world in between releases.
