Burning Man is the desert festival that celebrates community and self-expression every year. During the week before labor day, “burners” travel to the desert to set up camp and enjoy the unique culture that comes together in Black Rock City every year. The objective is to embrace art and self-reliance for the week, and to leave with no evidence left behind. The Saturday before labor day is when the wooden “man” is set to burn as part of the ritual.
The festival attracts celebrities and big-name musical acts, who sometimes perform unannounced. Burning Man also attracts an extremely dedicated crowd of regulars from year to year. Ten principles govern Burning Man. Those principles include respecting and welcoming strangers, gift giving, “radical self-expression” and watching out for others.
