Colours of Ostrava, more commonly referred to as simple Colours, is a multi-genre festival that’s not only the largest international music festival in Czech Republic, but is one of the largest in the entirety of Central Europe. It’s held every year in the middle of Ostrava, which is the 3rd largest city in the Czech Republic.
In total there are 16 stages, which includes four larger open-air stages, six indoor stages, a workshop stage, a theater stage, a kid’s stage, a cinema and several areas for live discussions. As you’d expect, there is a single main stage for the headliners, which has a capacity of more than 15,000 people.
Until the 2012 edition, Colours of Ostrava was held in the Silesian Ostrava Castle district and on the fairgrounds of Cerna Iouka, in addition to other satellite locations throughout the city. Starting in 2012, this festival now takes place on the recultivated fields of the Vitkovice city district.
In recent years top acts have brought more than 30,000 people – and in fact it’s the first festival in the history of the Czech Republic to be sold out more than one month before it was held. In 2014 we’re looking at a truly impressive lineup that will include Robert Plant and the Sensational Space, ZAZ, MGMT, Chet Faker, The National, Bastille, John Butler Trio, and Olafur Arnalds.
