The Reading Festival is the oldest popular music festival that’s been continuously running in the world. It’s a part of the two-prong Reading and Leeds Festivals, and both are held over the same weekend and with similar acts, though in two separate locations.
It’s held at Little John’s Farm, located in Central Reading on Richfield Avenue near Caversham Bridge. Each year almost 100,000 people come out or this three-day event that promises the best of rock, alternative, indie, and more. In recent years a complimentary fringe festival has been held to highlight up and coming and progressive bands.
While the name implies these are two separate festivals, the reality is that one ticket will get you into both and bands are billed for the two festivals as a whole, not individually. There are many locations to camp throughout the several venues, and guests can enjoy plenty of revelry throughout the wee hours. The 2014 lineup brings the hottest international rock bands, like Blink-182, Royal Blood, Arctic Monkeys, I am Legion, Disclosure LIVE, You Me at Six, Annie Mac, Issues, and SBTRKT.
