About AmpersandHoused in an industrial building that was once home to the Whitney Bank, Ampersand is centrally located in the Central Business District, just two blocks from the French Quarter, five blocks away from the Superdome, and can be walked to from most major hotels.
There are two levels to this stylish club, which has a unique Storyville / Vaudeville feel to it. Amenities include a courtyard, swimming pool, private areas for special events, a huge dance floor, comfortable, cozy sitting rooms, and VIP Skyboxes. A tip from the regulars: If you’re going to snag a VIP room, ask for the room that was once home to the bank’s vault.
There’s no question that the aesthetics at Ampersand are impressive, but at the end of the day it’s really all about the music. Artists like Lil Wayne, Tiesto, and Paul Oakenfold have all taken the stage, and this spot was voted the best late night spot, and the club with the best music and DJs every year from 2003-2008, and the best dance club from 2003-2008 and again from 2010-2012.
Dress to impress before you walk through these doors, and call ahead to inquire about the dress code, as it can change based on the event taking place. Cover is also ever-changing depending on the entertainment, and most nights are 18 and up.
