About CrocodileCrocodile is a Wicker Park bar that offers the ideal economic downturn crusher: With each and every drink order comes a 6 – inch margherita pizza that is custom-made with your personal toppings for a buck or two more.
Browse the full menu of bigger New York style, thin crust pies such as the Buffalo Soldier (hot wing sauce, chicken and blue cheese) to a traditional white pie with mozzarella, ricotta and garlic, if you love precisely what you taste.
Look into the specialty “crocktails” like the Jewel of deNile (strawberry imbued vodka, strawberry mix and sparkling wine) and Midnight Rambler (a mint julep created using apricot-infused Jack Daniels).
A downstairs lounge from time to time opens up to make room for guests on busy nights and also for DJ parties.
What to Expect:
Upon walking in, you will see many people gathered round the tavern while loud throwbacks and present dance and indie hits play in the background (there are typically two DJs, one for the upstairs area and another for the cellar area). In the corner, you can see the staff baking pizzas.
Even though the downstairs space is better for dancing, you will not have any problem with getting your groove on the first level. However, if you truly came here in to dance, you need to walk downstairs to the basement. A mixture of superb dance hits mixed with magnificent hip hop throwbacks might be heard downstairs. You can generally find a great dance circle to crash.
WARNING: The floors in the basement become quite slick so be careful if you decide to break out the running man on the dance floor.
As for the drinks, they are usually priced for Wicker Park – not the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive.
Nevertheless, when it comes to ambience, this place is totally Hipster. Pretty much everyone who comes here leaves happy that they came. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights are the best.
Finally, be aware that there is a $5 cover charge, just so that you are not caught off-guard.
