About Gypsy BarA powerful exclamation point for the two-block office and retail high-rise in the city’s heart, the fittingly dubbed Gypsy Bar is a casino-style venue connected to neighboring Lucky Strike Lanes, which is a posh bowling alley owned by the same company. Whopping 10,000 square feet boast a revolving set of live, vaudeville-style performers and theme parties.
Decked out with leather couches and a minimalist décor, the place is unapologetically mainstream – intentionally though! Drinks are served at a swanky, all-white and vintage inspired three-sided island bar that anchors the room, surrounded by plush lounge sofa sectionals, perfect for sipping on a handcrafted cocktail or one of the other reasonably priced signature drinks.
When drinking inevitably turns to dancing, you can lose yourself on the large and neon-lit dancefloor, accentuating silly dance moves with confetti canons, CO2 blasts and hazer machines. Surrounded by more sectional sofas, there is also a raised stage and DJ booth flanked by two high-definition video screens and state-of-the-art, scrimmed vignette cut-outs featuring silhouettes of the club’s live go-go dancers, burlesque performers, fashion and light shows – if you’re lucky enough you might even spot a contortionist or sword swallower, ranking pretty high on the exotica list of night entertainment.
A vintage light-up sign reading “Prize Every Time” invites you to a fully-loaded “Gamer’s Paradise”, which is another unique component of the venue. The game lounge features 40 arcade games in an adult-oriented environment, giving you a break from wild dance moves by challenging your “Guitar Hero”, “Pac-Man Battle Royale Deluxe” or “Fast & Furious” skills. And when hunger takes over, the club also features a full dinner menu, serving tasty plates of Belgian fries, flatbread pizza, soft pretzels or Brie quesadillas.
The upscale “nightclub-meets-arcade” draws a variety of trendy, but not too trendy night revellers and free spirits from around the city, ranging from 21 to 50, who genuinely enjoy a great night out. If you like to dance and feel intimidated by more “traditional” and niche-based clubs, this is the perfect location to be. Let aside the tempting opportunity of dwelling in nostalgia with Pac-Man battles…
