About Le Bain At The StandardSituated on the 18th floor of the uber-stylish The Standard hotel, Le Bain is one of Manhattan’s more exclusive, slightly notorious, and very “New York” experiences. Le Bain goes to the effort to cultivate an adventurous, creative, and interesting crowd to complement the steady stream of entertainment and media darlings who frequent the club. It’s an upbeat little slice of debauched heaven, and once the formality of the door has passed, the place is known for being friendly, unpretentious, very sexy and a lot of fun.
Access is by freight elevator, depositing you straight into a dark, dimly lit, high-ceiling club, with some eye-catching accents, but whose main features are the floor-to-ceiling windows providing an amazing view of the city, and the four foot deep pool/large hot tub in the floor. As the evening wears on, and booze flows, the chances of seeing naked people increases exponentially. There is plenty of seating on plush, cushioned couches and banquettes, and a good-sized dance floor (though people tend to dance pretty much wherever they find themselves), complete with disco ball. The rooftop patio lounge is up a flight of faux graffiti decorated stairs, and is a little slice of backyard life. Covered in Astroturf, decked out with lawn chairs, pink waterbeds, and excellent views of the city and river.
The music leans heavily towards house, but you can expect a little bit of everything. The DJs are a rotating mix of residents, and heavyweights in the NY and global underground. Falty DL, Onra, King Britt, Todd Terry, D’Julz, Gina Turner, Spank Rock and Junior Sanchez have all made appearances at Le Bain.
The crowd is trendy, stylish, artistic, creative, and very good-looking. A-list celebrities, scenesters and affluent hipsters of every stripe, models and socialites, Le Bain caters to them all.
