Le Poisson Rouge is located in the place that was formerly used by The Village Gate. It is an edgy music venue and club that serves alcohol and art to the crowd of Greenwich Village. The neighboring concert hall and gallery attracts music and art buffs. The crowd consists of music lovers of all genres. The music style changes every night. Past events include Lykke Li, Mos Def, and Beach House. There are some special nights like Crooked Discos and Freedom Party on Fridays, Le Bingo and I Love Vinyl on Saturdays, once-a-month Nasty Mondays, and infrequent John and Molly comedy nights. There are rotating exhibitions in the art gallery of the concert hall. The full menu of the place includes tater tots, mac and cheese, and Kobe beef sliders. The place hosts a vast array of genres including new music, classical, jazz, and indie rock; while also hosting events like comedy, readings, parties, film, and theater. Friday nights are famous for Freedom parties and there are party loving people during the weekends in general. There is no particular dress code, and short dresses and jeans are most welcome.
