About Lumen LoungeUltra-cool, and ultra-hip, Lumen is the newest in the city venue to embrace latest trend in the club scene: exclusive, VIP service-focused, luxuriously designed, and catering to the beautiful and the famous, Lumen brings a taste of Miami to Houston.
Moderately-sized with lots of seating, and a reasonably open dance floor for the space, the interior evokes South Beach, with modern, sleek design, clean lines, crisp colors and lots of little details that give the place its ambience. The mix of mirrors, stone accents, frosted glass, seductive lighting, and stark black & white patterns definitely take you out of the ordinary and into a different place. There’s also an outdoor patio for those moments when you need a breather. It’s smaller and more intimate than other places, but that’s part of what gives it its feel. A solid sound system, and some extravagant lighting arrangements complete a very nice overall setup.
The musical lineup consists of established locals, up-and-coming out-of-towners, and some serious icons (like Seattle native Donald Glaude and international star John Acquaviva) in the EDM scene. A pretty safe bet on the weekends, Lumen also offers a locally famous Tuesday night if you need something to get you through the week. The genres jump around, but other than a hip hop themed Thursday, the music is more EDM focused with occasional detours just to keep things interesting.
Lumen, as might be expected with known celebrity hangouts, is See-and-Be-Seen territory, so dress to impress. As with most bottle service-focused venues, the best way to guarantee entry and skip the lines is to make a table reservation.
