About MokaiNightclubs are known for feeling packed with a certain madness thrown in. Mokai is not that place. Named for the New Zealand canyon that served as one of the settings in The Lord of The Rings, Mokai has become a favorite of celebrities due not only to its small size, capacity is around 220, but also because the gentlemen at the rope are quite discerning about who comes in. It really is its own VIP lounge. This is Dress to Impress with an emphasis on impress. As with many places of its size and exclusivity, reserving a section is recommended.
While tiny in comparison to a lot South Beach hotspots, it doesn’t skimp on the ambiance. Chain mail drapes, orange alligator skin couches, fetish wear clad go go dancers, go go cages, aerial acrobatics via hanging rope contraptions, lots of stuffed animals, shiny silver tables, and pretty intricate lighting design all foster the kind of decadence one expects from Miami. Oh, and keep your eyes peeled, there is the occasional sighting of incredibly festive, hard partying midgets. Because what party is complete without the little people?
