About TabernacleIn 1910, the Tabernacle was not a music venue. It was the Broughton Tabernacle, a Baptist Medical Center, school, and church. The abandoned building was converted, in 1996 for the Centennial Summer Olympic Games, to a music venue, specifically the House of Blues. When the House of Blues left Atlanta, the Tabernacle continued in its place.
The Tabernacle is small for a large venue, but large for a small venue, giving it an intimate feel when large national and international bands and artists play there. Performers to have graced the stage here include Dead Maus, Tom Waits, Ani Difranco, Janelle Monae, TV on the Radio, and many more. The venue caters to a wide range of musical and comedic talents. Check their calendar for upcoming shows and events. There is no enforced dress code, though some events – including a lot of the electro and EDM performances – promote costumes and more creative outfits for themselves and their audiences.
Paid parking lots are open near the venue, and the venue is located within convenient walking distance of the Peachtree Center and Georgia Dome/GWCC/Philips Arena/CNN Center MARTA train stations.
