After spending the mid- and late-nineties as a club DJ and venue manager in Paris, David Guetta first achieved widespread recognition with the release of “Just a Little More Love”. The following year, his debut album by the same name sold more than 300,000 copies.
Over the course of the next five years, Guetta released numerous hit singles, his second full length album, and the popular compilation series entitled Fuck Me I’m Famous. In 2007, Guetta released the album Pop Life, which went on to sell more than 530,000 copies. The record’s single “Love is Gone” hit No. 1 on the American Dance Chart and ranked on the Billboard Hot 100. For the next two years he toured around the world before organizing the “UNIGHTED” event where he performed in front of 40,000 people and shared the stage with leading artists such as Tiestö and Carl Cox.
In 2009, Guetta ranked No. 3 on DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs. That year Guetta released his fourth album, One Love. Two of its singles went on to hit No. 1 on the UK chart. The album was nominated Best Electronic/Dance Album in the Grammys, and the single “When Love Takes Over” was nominated Best Remixed Recording in the Non-Classical category (which it won), as well as Best Dance Recording. Also in 2009, Guetta produced “I Gotta Feeling” for the Black Eyed Peas, which became a global hit and became the most downloaded song in United States history.
